Lucy’s first job x

Wow……….. the 11th of November was my last post, it’s been such a long time since I have spoken to you all!! Sorry x

Maybe I should try to explain why I’ve not been around the blogosphere for such a long time?!. x

After 8 years, I’ve finally got a job!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woop woop!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ x

And I loving it…………. Back at the beginning of December I started working for a cute little florists called Pollinationย hereย in Edinburgh delivering their gorgeous arrangements around the city x

And I haven’t looked back since, it has done my confidence the world of good being out there meeting people on their doorsteps or place of work, where I get to hand over delicious looking bouquets and get to see their eyes light up whilst doing it xxx

I have to say, It’s been so nice having something to get up for in the mornings again and also just having a bit of structure back to my day after all these years! A few extra pennies in my purse has been rather lovely too, I must say x

And although this job may not last that long, it is a huge step in the right direction and has definitely given me a taste for work again x
PollinationOh and you might just spot me out and about in my cute little van (it’s usually a lot cleaner than this) and if you do please give me a little wave x

Or perhaps you would prefer a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers delivered to you by little old me, if so you should get online at:

www.pollination.co.ukย

and get ordering!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Advertisements

Tis the season to release their adverts!! Tra la la la la, tra la la la x

This last week has seen the premiรจres of all this years Christmas (Holiday) adverts. Which marks the start of the exciting lead up to the festivities over the next couple of months!! And I have to say they are up to their usual high standards. With a few new companies taking up the challenge to compete for the most extravagant commercial to hit our screens this year.

I’ve picked a small selection of my favourites so far xx

The first to be released was the Marks and Spencers advert, with a welcomed return of their old Magic and Sparkle campaign.

Then was John Lewis, whom rarely disappoint with their seasonal advert. And this year is no exception with this simply stunning visual Disney like animated contribution.

A touching little story from Boots

And then the first of the supermarkets, Morrisons!! I think it may be because I love Beauty and the beast so much that I like this one so much x

And then there is Lidl’s quite cute offering.

And we can’t forget Debenhams fabulous effort

Then there is Tesco’s pretty little vintage style look at the generational timeline of a family with home videos x

T K Maxx – Mainly for the cutest little ginger baby (my favourite kind) in this simple little ad x

The Cadbury’s ad captures the essence of of our inner child with this years advert x

And no Christmas advert list would be complete without Coca cola’s traditional spin on the Holidays x

Here is a second one that I found that i think somes up the Christmas i am going to have this year on my own, I think i will take their advice and find ways to make it special by doing nice things for others this year x Thanks Coca cola for the inspiration x

Now to look out the decorations :p x

More cake!!!!! #ItsGood2EatCake2

After the success of the the firstย It’sGood2EatCakeย charity cake eating event, theย Edinburgh Bakersย held there second event last night for the amazing Edinburgh children’s cancer charity Itsgood2giveย run by Lynne McNicoll.

It’s only 3 weeks now until Lynne and Wilma (and 29 others) are going to be climbing Mountย Kilimanjaro to raise money for the charity, they have raised ยฃ86,000 (approx) so far and are hoping to reach their target of ยฃ100,000 by the time all the monies are in, so if you would like to help please pop over to either or both of their donations pages hereย orย hereย and give generously x Good luck when the time comes girls x

The Venue this time was the stunningย Cafe Musa on the moundย again, which is always just the perfect place to enjoy cake and good company x With Alison, Wilma, Wendy and Lou doing such a great job hosting and organising everything in the background with military precision everyone got their cake and was able to stuff their faces to their hearts content. โ™ฅ

And of course I was allowed the honour of taking photos again this time of all the wonderful cakes that everyone had lovingly created and brought along with them, before they were devoured x Special thanks to Lauryn and Nadine for helping me get through all the cakes by writing all their labels and running them to the table to be photographed, they are wee stars x I’d still be there yet without their help x

There was a raffle again this time, with lots of amazing prizes (one of which I won…………Yeah!!) , the raffle tickets were diligently handled and sold by Ross again with the help of one of his friends this time.

And the star prize was another glorious cake made by Lou atย LoulaBelle Bakesย fair hands x Totally stunning, with an actual teacup and saucer made out of fondant on the top!

All in all, it was another glorious evening with great friends, that has hopefully raised a tonne of cash for a very deserving charity x

The Pommery champagne cafe bar

This Saturday was a day of glamour and self indulgence for me with an extremely lavish trip to the pop up Champagne bar hosted in the Signet Library just off the royal mile in the centre of Edinburgh x The Pommery champagne cafe bar have created a very sophisticated and decadent little space in the Library for those looking for a bit of luxury during the Festival and I revelled in the opportunity to get dressed up and head out in to town in my finery and I felt perfectly at home in my surroundings and company.

We were there to partake in one of their Champagne afternoon teas and had been extremely well organised ย by the very busy Alison on behalf ofย The Edinburgh Bakersย to enjoy as a group during this years festival. And it was a glorious afternoon of laughter, CAKE, tea and ย of course Champers and lived up to all of my expectations.

Pommery bar

Firstly they brought us these pretty little glasses of Fizz, which tasted divine, I could certainly get used to Champagne on a regular basis I think ๐Ÿ™‚ x

Then our sandwiches arrived, I think my favoured bready delight was the cucumber and mint sandwiches funnily enough, not a combination I can say that I have ever tried before, but they were closely followed by the cheese scones of yumminess x

And then there was CAKE!!!!!! And they all lived up to the very high standards that we as Edinburgh Bakers have come to expect in a quality cake, the chocolate brownies were absolutely sensational!!! But my favourite by far of all these goodies was the little lemon possets………..mmmmmmmm…….It was just so creamy and…….Well……lemony!!

Pommery bar

Thought you may like to see these pretty’s a little closer, just to get you salivating!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Pommery bar

And of course the Lemon Posset too………even I’m salivating again now x

Pommery bar

So all in all a huge thumbs up from Lucy!!! The surroundings were just so pretty and ornate that it just set the scene for our enjoyable Afternoon tea and allowed us to have some great fun with all the other lovely people in our company x Thanks again for organising Edinburgh bakers, you excelled yourself again x I can’t wait for the next Event at Cafe Musaย to see you all again x

Inchcolm Island

Wow………Over a month since my last post, busy as usual x I should try harder, but perhaps I really am a winter blogger?!?! x Well, here’s a predominantly photographic post of a recent adventure anyway x ๐Ÿ™‚

I had the opportunity to visit Inchcolm island – a gorgeous island in the Firth of Forth with an old monestary on it – a couple of weeks ago with Elizabeth and we had a lovely day exploring our way round x It’s a beautiful little retreat, shame we weren’t allowed to stay overnight!! But they were quite insistent that we get back on the ferry at the end of the trip!! :p x

Inchcolm island

This is the island as we approached on the ferry, you can’t quite see the monastery yet as it is set in the middle of the island.

Inchcolm island

On route we had a little stop to admire some seal basking in the sunshine!

Inchcolm island

First glimpse of the majestic monastery as we came along side the island.

Here is a gallery of shots I took whilst wandering around and through the old monastery for you to peruse at your leisure, I was surprise how intact it still is after 700 odd years!!

There was one major down side to the day, these mean little flying critters, it was right in the middle of baby seagull season when we were there ย and the mummy and daddy seagulls were very protective of their little ones.

Inchcolm islandThen sadly, as the light was fading it was time to head back to the mainland, but with lots of memories of a wonderful trip to warm our hearts for a while x

Reigniting an old love affair!

Over the last couple of weeks we’ve finally had some sunshine and this has given me the chance to get back out on my bike along the canal side and enjoy some of the beauty that entails!!

So I thought I would simply share some photos of my journeys with you all today x
